Southern Illinois synagogues preparing for Rosh Hashanah

CARBONDALE — A few weeks ago, Sue Liemer was preparing for the end of the year, cleaning house and making mental notes to be sure to use the time to get right with anyone she had offended.

This work was in anticipation of the start of the new year, 5777 by the Jewish calendar, which Liemer and some fellow Jewish people celebrate early next week with dawning of Rosh Hashanah.
