Divestment: Anti-Semitism at Stanford

Two days ago, the Stanford University student senate passed an Israel divestment resolution. In addition to being deeply dishonest, this resolution will damage the social fabric and reputation of Stanford.

For decades Stanford has sent the blessings of friendship, technology and medical advances to conflict zones throughout the world. The senate resolution, and the divisiveness it has created, has done the opposite; it imported one of those conflicts into Stanford. The senate has chosen to take a stand on the politics of the Middle East over which it has no influence, at the cost of demonizing and alienating members of its own community.
